Amiga Specific Topics

  1. Which models of the Amiga Computer will the game run on?

1.  Is this the same game that was released in early '90s by Electronic Arts?

Mostly. We cleaned-up the music, improved the saved game screen, and added a couple of features. The graphics are still in glorious 8-bit color.

2.  Is this just a re-release of the DOS and Mac 68K CD-ROM versions?

No, these versions are fully native applications for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

3.  What is an "adventure" game?

The Just Adventure web site defines an adventure game as "a genre of computer entertainment that is centered around a character with a universal goal and is not combat-based." While this is not universally true, the definition does fit The Labyrinth of Time.

4.  What is my mission in The Labyrinth of Time?

Your mission is to destroy The Labyrinth of Time before the power-mad spirit of King Minos can use it to rule the universe. You were assigned this task by the spirit of Daedalus, master craftsman of the ancient world, who was forced to build the labyrinth.

5.  Can you give me the address of someone who worked on the game?

The short answer is "No." The long answer is that you are welcome to send correspondence to Wyrmkeep Entertainment and we will try to pass it along. No promises though.

6.  Is there a demo version?

Yes there is. Click here.

7.  Is there a hint book?

Yes there is. Visit the order page to get a copy.

8.  When is the sequel coming out?

We have no announcement about a sequel at this time.

9.  What is the rating of this game?

Since this game is not being published in the retail market, Wyrmkeep Entertainment has decided not to undergo the costly procedure of having the game rated by the ESRB. We consider the game to be rated for general audiences.

10.  Is this game "open source"?

No, but the game does make use of free and open source software. See the foss directory on the game CD-ROM for more information.

11.  Where are the saved game files kept?

The saved games are located in the following places on a standard system:
Windows 98/Me: C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Wyrmkeep\The Labyrinth of Time Saved Games
Windows 2000/XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Wyrmkeep\The Labyrinth of Time Saved Games
Mac OS X: /Users/<username>/Documents/The Labyrinth of Time Saved Games
Linux: ~/.TheLabyrinthOfTime
Amiga: The root directory of whatever device you selected.
"<username>" should be replaced by the username of the current account.

12.  Will you be releasing a CD of the music from the game?

This information always amazes people: The music was not composed for the game! All the music was licensed from a stock music company. We don't have the right to release the music separately, so the answer is no.

13.  Which versions of Windows will the game run under?

The game will run under Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. It should also run under Windows 2003, but that hasn't been tested yet.

14.  Why does the game not run under Windows 95 and Windows NT?

Windows 95 and Windows NT are no longer actively supported by Microsoft. This makes it very hard for Wyrmkeep Entertainment to support those operating systems. All we can say is "Sorry for the inconvenience."

15.  Which versions of Mac OS X will the game run under?

The game will run under Mac OS X 10.1.2 or later.

16.  Why does the game not run under Mac OS 9 or earlier?

Steve Jobs told us not to make software for Mac OS 9 or earlier. (What that really means is that can't support OS versions that Apple doesn't support.)

17.  Which versions of Linux will the game run under?

The game will run under Linux 2.4 or 2.6 for x86 processors such as Intel Pentium, AMD Athlon, etc. X-Windows is also required.

18.  Will there be versions for Linux for PowerPC, FreeBSD or X-Windows-less systems?

Probably not. You should be able to run the game under FreeBSD if you have installed the Linux compatibility layer. You may be able to get the game to run without X-Windows with a special build of libsdl, but we don't supply such a build. See our Linux Support page for other issues.

18.  Which models of the Amiga Computer will the game run on?

The game will run on any Amiga computer with AmigaDOS 1.3 or later, 1 Meg of chip RAM and 512 KB of fast RAM. It is known to run fine under UAE (an Amiga emulator). Although this is almost the same version that was originally released for the Amiga CDTV and CD32, it does not contain the files that would allow it to boot on those consoles.
