My dear sister, you are weird. Let's just leave it at that, OK?
32  Inherit the Earth Forums / Fan Art & Fiction / Re: We win on: October 23, 2007, 08:39:58 AM
Well, actually I think they'd come up with some special rule for scrums when the Boars played the Cheetahs...

Perhaps they'd have to wear helmets as in American football.

...one tribe I would not like to imagine playing rugby would be Dogs.

Or the Cats. They'd only play if they were in the mood, and wander off aimlessly during the game. Or gallop around the stadium twice for no apparent reason.

And why the Humans came back to kidnap the Morph...

Well, perhaps the human survivors of the war had to leave without specimens of Earth life (except what they needed in their hydroponic gardens), and without much in the way of information about the Earth, since you don't stop to stock up your ship library when you're running for your life. If this is the case, then they presumably know as little about Earth and the Morph as the Morph know about them (listen to me now, referring to my own species as "them").

Or they stole a spaceship themselves - you have to admit, after a year (or how ever long they'll be gone) of hanging around Human spaceships - they'd better know how to pilot them, or they'd be really dim.

Except if it was a ship like the Millennium Falcon, always on the verge of breaking down. Then they'd need to return the favour and kidnap a human to keep it running. <evil laughter>

Just a thought, of course... <wide-eyed innocent smile>

And what rule is that that said you must face in the direction of the kick?

You may have problems turning around and kicking in mid-gallop, though. Morph rugby would probably be more oriented towards running, than kicking, except kicks from a standing start (e.g. penalties).

...a deer kicking forward with those hard hooves.

Or a springbok Smiley  Yeah... Percy Montgomery, the springbok Springbok. That oughta be good...

Can you say field goal from anywhere on the pitch?

I'm waiting to grow strong legs and hooves Smiley    (quote from the game, BTW)

Imagine boars chasing after a cheeta[h].

I'd rather not imagine a scrum involving boars and cheetahs, though. The results might be less than pretty:

Ref: "Lock... engage!"

(Medic starts running onto the field)

Boars: "Oomph!"

Cheetahs (simultaneously): "OWWWWW, MY EAR!"

Come to think of it, rugby might be a fun game in their world.

It would be very different, no question... *winces*

But, how would they kick the ball?

Well, you saw MY fan fiction and you said it was weird and gave me that strange wide-eyed concerned-sisterly look...

Wat 'n idee... perhaps the otter who's chasing him has a good motive, then Wink

Otter: "Just trying to remove a pest from the surface of the Earth, Mr. Rif."
Rif: "What, Sandy?"
Otter: "Yes."
Rif: "But, why?"
Otter: "Eugenics."
Rif: "Go ahead..."

New comic: ja you see, Sandy? You asked for it, you got it. I like his expression in panel 3, you can almost feel sorry for him.

What I'm wondering is, what is he running to/from that he doesn't even want to let Rif into his confidence when he has every indication that Rif's only there to help? I'm thinking, either Sandy's just plain a fickle and self-centered individual, or something extremely unpleasant is after him...
44  Inherit the Earth Forums / Inherit the Earth Bug Reports / Re: Old ITE BUG on: October 09, 2007, 10:01:11 PM
No, it's Rif's evil clone, like Luuke Skywalker who was an evil clone of Luke Skywalker (somewhere in the Expanded Universe apparently)... "If you won't go to the darkside Rif, your evil clone RIFF will fulfill your destiny... MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!"

I don't know if PSP has a good current trial. I bought the anniversary edition of PSP7 a few years ago and it set me back a grand (or around $130), but maybe you can try eBay. I haven't used Inkscape much except to convert Corel drawings to something I can use, but I recommended it because I know it's completely free (and, it's not The GIMP ;)

I just thought of something, maybe it would be a good idea to create prebuilt map "sections", like a T-junction, straight section, and a bend. Put them on a "template" layer, and copy/paste/rotate them as required. That will keep the scale consistent throughout.

So from one "cartologist" to another, good luck with the mapmaking...
